This Brighton landmark, opposite the Royal Pavilion and known as the Tower of Babel, was the brainchild of the owner of a famous Brighton Italian pizza restaurant, and celebrates 100 years of Italian cooking in the city. The building has been designed to accommodate primarily Italian chefs who are always so much in demand and now take command in the hundreds of pizza restaurants that are dotted around the city. The original design too overtly advertised the building's mafiosa connections, so Brighton's planning department famously requested the architects to make the design more digestible. The building has also been heavily criticised for not being green enough and currently the building is becoming a Calzone - it's celebrity chefs are wrapping it up...with huge leaves of spinach!
